Kristina Žetko (b. 1997, Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a visual artist specialising in experimental uses of the photographic medium. Her work explores the boundaries between photography and painting through cameraless techniques and light-based installations.
During her 10 years of studying and practising photography, Žetko has developed a deep knowledge of the medium’s history, processes and material possibilities. Her main interest lies in darkroom experimentation and hands-on analogue processes. She creates experimental cameraless photographs, using light-sensitive materials, handmade negatives and photographic chemicals to produce abstract compositions. Her artistic practice investigates the interplay between personal experience and subjective perception.
Žetko regularly participates in both solo and group exhibitions and her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as City Museum of Ljubljana (SI), Ljubljana Castle (SI), Museum of Gothenburg (SE), Röda Sten Konsthall (SE), Gallery Konstepidemin (SE), Galerija Tir (SI), and Fotogalerija STOLP (SI).
In addition to her artistic practice, Kristina Žetko actively shares her knowledge through workshops and lectures, fostering dialogue around experimental, cameraless photography and encouraging wider access to these processes without the need for special equipment or dedicated spaces.
